OpinionTown Government

Welcome to the Town of Clinton Chronicle

Why this site exists, what it will cover, and how you can take part in the decisions made in the Town of Clinton.

Decisions made by the Town Board, the assessor’s office and the planning and zoning boards shape every property owner’s tax bill and every neighborhood in the Town of Clinton. Most of us don’t have time to read every agenda, attend every meeting or file every records request.

That’s where this site comes in.

What this site will do

  • Share my perspective on town decisions, in plain language.
  • Follow property taxes and assessments, including how they are set and how grievances are handled.
  • Point you to the source, with links to agendas, minutes, local laws and records obtained under New York’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) whenever possible.
  • Offer an opinion. I will tell you what I think and why. You are free to disagree.

How you can take part

Local government works best when the public shows up. You can:

  1. Read the agenda before a Town Board meeting and contact your board members.
  2. Speak during public comment, in person or in writing.
  3. File a FOIL request when you want to see the documents behind a decision.

If there is an issue you think deserves attention, get in touch.

Thanks for reading.
